Ampersand Hotel South Kensington, London nears completion.

London’s South Kensington hotel landscape is about to be joined by the luxurious Ampersand Hotel at number 10 Harrington Road in SW7.  As the scaffolding comes down, we took a few photos.

This classical Victorian Italianate facade of the Ampersand Hotel is being gradually exposed sporting a rather smart contemporary tone of Dove Grey with White offsets on the period embellishments.

Originally built in 1888 by celebrated architect W.H. Scrymgour, it was part of the bold, post Great Exhibition, creation of what today is known as the cultural quarters of London (Royal Albert Hall, V&A, National History & Science Museums, Imperial College).

The Ampersand Hotel, a member of White Line Hotels,  is scheduled to re-open their newly painted doors on August 29th, 2012 in leafy South Kensington, London.
