Indeed it is very much at the centre of the design world, and Sweden’s capital, Stockholm, is no different. Hosting Stockholm Design Week on February 6 to 12, 2017, the city is preparing the stage and the design world is abuzz with excitement and anticipation.
With Spanish-born designer, Jaime Hayon, as the guest of honour, (considered by many to be the ultimate contemporary designer of our time) this is going to be a truly international affair.
There will be parties, events and soirees sprinkled throughout, so you had better pack a diary and perch your perfectly moulded black sunglasses firmly on the edge of your nose – as this design fair is going to be busy, busy, busy; not to mention fun, fun, fun.
Over 56 inspiring Scandinavian brands are showing collections new and established, and with a range spanning from Astrid, the stunning textiles designer to Fogia, with their handmade, crafted Scandinavian furniture designs, we know we will need to pack another suitcase/maybe book a crate on a boat.
Scandinavian countries are famous for pioneering green, eco-friendly, sustainable lifestyles and once again, Sweden and Stockholm are at the forefront. A considerable aspect of the design fair will therefore be sustainability, showing that you don’t have to be cruel to be cool.
Should this Scandi design week rock your style boat then you should probably also stay in Stockholm’s ultimate design residence – crafted by legendary designer, Ilse Crawford, to be a home away from home, the cosy and luxurious Ett Hem is just that.
