Shaped by the gigantic rock and ice formations, the natural port of Gothenburg is every bit a Nordic fishing town and a place that has attracted several designers and the cottage industrials eager to find a better quality of life, and I have to agree, life here is good.
The place has a sort of the frontier spirit, the aged wooden facades play host to the handmade crafts, designer coolness only to be found in the Nordics and well enough fresh fish mend any citied-out-body. The hotel we chose is run by a local duo (with the able aid of their adorable Schnauzer), who have built up the place over many years, now in the process of adding even more authenticity with products and accessories locally sourced.
Like the town, they are evolving, connecting back to their roots and supporting the communities around.
Its not about flash design, or a super duper makeover, it is about creating a place that speaks of warm hospitality that is as simple and honest as the town itself. So put down the supermarket Sushi and head for Gothenburg, support the owners on their quest and have yourself a great time.
