The designer den, Hotel OMM, on Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia in elegant Eixample district, is certainly no stranger when it comes down to creating an ambiance of chilled luxury. The hotel brings a coolness to gourmet dining too, to the buzzing and much acclaimed one Michelin star restaurant, Roca Moo.
As you can gather from the name, Roca Moo is a gourmet gastro experience overseen by the infamous Roca brothers: Joan, Josep & Jordi, under the umbrella El Celler de Can Roca (the to-die-for restaurant and foodie experience, acclaimed as the best restaurant in the world, over in Girona twice, again in 2017). A pretty good trio to be watching over Roca Moo, if you ask us...
The legendary trio have created the whole foodie experience at Roca Moo, which is managed by protégé & maverick in the making, talented chef Juan Pretel. A determined, disciplined, experimental and passionate guy who is equally shaping up to become a new legend on the gastro block, if not one of the best restaurants in Barcelona.
Obviously for us foodies, we would not hesitate to taking on the Roca Moo tasting menu which presents moulded crescent of Foie embedded with figs, followed by a succulent lobster curry with rose and liquorice, and a wild sea bass fillet on a bed of snow peas and pine nuts. You can of course opt for the showstoppers like: Smoked Pigeon Carpaccio with Juniper ice-cream or Wild Turbot, yellow lentils cream, yogurt and curry or the absolutely delicious twist on Duck with apple, cider and calvados. End the meal on the signature “Trip to Habana”.
Bookings are essential and the vibe is smart designer chic. Open for lunch & dinner, the bar at Hotel OMM is great to take in an Apero first and have a people watch, as it is always heaving with the luxe style people of Barcelona. Our best advice is to reside in one of the designer rooms at the Hotel so as to complete your taste of style in the Catalan capital, and that way, the only Roca Moo foodie experience you have to miss is breakfast (but just get room service).
