The bijou Lesic Dimitri Palace on Korcula is a much hot listed luxury pad framed by aged medieval walls in the old town, birthplace of Marco Polo no less. This number sits snugly between smart boutiques, romantic hideaway bars, galleries and the jet set yachting scene – Korcula being a favourite haunt in the Dalmatian Archipelago.
This is where contemporary Croatia is fused with lots of lovely heritage and a modern edge. The Lesic Dimitri is perfectly small and private without being pretentious or stuffy, which explains why it is a favourite bolthole for musicians, writers and artists – a boho scene indeed happily resides here peppered with the odd celebrity, incognito of course and the freshly wed honeymooners.
Spacious suites draw on the history of the Silk Routes, the owners cleverly capturing this legacy within the interiors in the six individual apartments. Each suite is etched with references to Korcula in fabulous carvings and crafted fabrics. Modernist furnishings mingle with bespoke Croatian pieces that root the concept to this 18th Century former Bishop’s Palace.
A medieval modernist that echoes the great trading routes, this is the Lesic Dimitri, a small Palace with an exceptionally warm soul on the island of Korcula.
